PAL at 82: Discover the Airline’s Dynamism, Energy in Airports & Online

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is celebrating its 82nd anniversary while undergoing a transformation journey. The airline is expanding its route network, introducing new products, and enhancing its services to provide more opportunities for travelers to fly and create new experiences.

It was 15 March 1941 when PAL operated its first commercial flight from Manila to Baguio City, and now, more than 80 years later, the airline is focusing on fleet expansion, digital innovations, customer service improvements, and a last-mile cargo delivery service. In addition, the airline is adopting a younger look and a more vibrant feel to enhance its overall brand image.

“At 82, Philippine Airlines is younger than ever and focused intently on enhancing the travel experience of our valued customers.  We face the great challenge of rebuilding tourism and economic growth, and we are responding by ramping up flights, introducing routes to Australia and China that enable us to fly in more tourists and generate more business, and developing exciting products and services that will make bring value to our passengers. We are grateful for the support of our customers in this time of continuing transition and renewal.  We look forward to serving them well and inspiring more people to fly and discover new experiences with PAL,” according to Capt. Stanley K. Ng, President and COO of PAL during a media gathering in Manila earlier today.

Starting this month, travelers can expect to see more of PAL’s refreshed look in airports and on digital platforms, reflecting the airline’s dynamism and 82 years of service and experience. Furthermore, PAL’s Anniversary Seat Sale has been extended until 19 March 2023, offering great deals on all routes for both domestic and international destinations.

As PAL continues to expand its global flight route network, travelers can now explore new destinations and travel experiences. For instance, the airline will launch its first nonstop flight to Perth, Australia, on 27 March 2023. The flag carrier is also introducing non-stop flights from Kalibo to Seoul Incheon in South Korea, a new regional service targeting tourists visiting Boracay and the Central Philippines. In addition, the airline will increase daily flights to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jinjiang, and Xiamen in April, while offering new island-hopper routes from Clark to Coron (Busuanga) and Boracay (Caticlan). PAL is also resuming regular flights between Manila and Macau this April, completing a major expansion of services to eight cities in Greater China.

To make it easier for travelers to find the best deals, PAL has launched a new Flights Deals Portal that is more searchable and easier to navigate. The airline is also upgrading its widebody fleet to enhance the long-haul flight experience, and it expects its entire fleet of 75 aircraft to be operational in Q4 2023, as it reactivates more aircraft that had been parked during the pandemic.

PAL is set to introduce a new Port-to-Door Service, making cargo shipments more convenient for customers. The airline will also be opening a new Mabuhay Lounge at the NAIA Terminal 1 featuring a contemporary design and offers amenities such as food and beverage buffets, shower rooms, and free Wi-Fi. In addition, PAL is launching its Anniversary Menu, featuring bolder flavors and textures for passengers flying Business Class to North America and Australia. The flag carrier is also rolling out the MilesBack program, allowing passengers to earn Miles through partner merchants.

To enhance the customer service experience, PAL has reworked YourPAL, which provides passengers with necessary information about luggage restrictions, safety protocols, check-in and boarding procedures, and more through an online service portal.

The Philippine flag carrier has renewed its commitment to serving the Filipino people and promoting the country as a top tourist and business destination worldwide. This renewed mission is a central component of PAL’s ongoing transformation journey, which includes a range of plans and programs for the years to come. With 82 years of experience under its belt, the flag carrier is dedicated to carrying its legacy forward and expanding its reach as a global airline.
