The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) Returns in 2024 at New Clark City

The nation’s premier airshow extravaganza, Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) is set to make a return to the skies from 16 to 18 February 2024 at an exciting new venue: New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.

Following a hiatus of three (03) years due to the global pandemic, the iconic event known as “A Weekend of Everything that Flies” will once again provide families, friends, and aviation enthusiasts with a remarkable opportunity to witness an unending display of flying exhibitions. Attendees will be treated to a captivating array of regular and special-shaped hot air balloons, helicopters, skydivers (missed the daily morning flag jumps?), paragliders, radio-controlled aircraft, kites, and drones (there will be FPV drone racing at PIHABF for the first time!), all showcased in a single captivating location.

It’s official! New Clark City will serve as the 2024 airshow venue following the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between PIHABF and BCDA on 22 August 2023 in Pasay City.

Beyond the awe-inspiring airborne performances, participants can anticipate a diverse range of engaging and educational activities, including aviation career seminars, fly markets, delectable food booths, and wholesome family entertainment. The evenings will conclude with a mesmerizing hot air balloon night glow and live concerts, adding a touch of enchantment to the event.

“Since restrictions have been lifted, we now have a chance to gather families and friends for a meaningful event. By inviting aviators from all over the world to participate in the flying exhibitions, we continue to share with everyone a real airshow experience, just as we have done for over two decades,” according to Capt. Joy Roa, Event Director of the PIHABF.

The 24th iteration of PIHABF will grace the premises of New Clark City, a dynamic sports hub established by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The city boasts impressive facilities such as a 20,000-seater Athletics Stadium, an aquatics center, and expansive open grounds, making it an ideal host for such an extraordinary event.

A significant milestone has been reached with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between PIHABF and BCDA, formalizing New Clark City as the 2024 airshow venue earlier today at the Air Ads Hangar in Pasay City. The event’s success is also made possible through the valued support of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and the Provincial Government of Tarlac.

“We are thrilled to welcome the PIHABF to New Clark City, their new home. This modern-day festival, which brings joy to the young and old, deserves to be celebrated at the world-class facilities of New Clark City that are comfortable, spacious and convenient for event-goers. We hope this partnership is just the start of many more events in the coming years,” said Engr. Joshua Bingcang, BCDA President and CEO.

For over two decades, the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta has garnered acclaim as the most anticipated and enduring sports aviation event in Asia. It has steadfastly adhered to its core objectives: to ignite enthusiasm for aviation, to nurture discipline among budding pilots, and to imbue the entire community with a spirit of volunteerism. As the event takes flight once again, it is poised to carry forward these cherished traditions with renewed zeal and excitement.
