Korean low-cost carrier Aero K is set to expand its international network with a new service to the Philippines, launching a Cheongju-Cebu route in October 2024. This strategic move marks the airline’s first venture into the Cebu market, catering to the growing demand for travel between South Korea and the Philippines.
Starting 05 October 2024, Aero K will operate the Cheongju-Cebu route twice weekly, utilizing its Airbus A320 aircraft. The service is scheduled to depart Cheongju International Airport (CJJ) at 2110H (GMT+9) on Saturdays and Mondays, arriving at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) at 0040H PhST (GMT+8) the following day. The return flight will leave Cebu at 0140H PhST on Sundays and Tuesdays, landing in Cheongju at 0655H (GMT+9) local time.
This new route aims to capitalize on the increasing popularity of Cebu as a tourist destination among South Korean travelers. Known for its pristine beaches, diving spots, and vibrant culture, Cebu has become a preferred getaway for many seeking a tropical escape. With Aero K’s competitive pricing and convenient schedule, the airline is well-positioned to attract both leisure and business travelers.
The airline’s entry into the Cebu market also signifies its commitment to expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia. Aero K, which began operations in 2021, has been gradually increasing its international offerings, with a focus on providing affordable and reliable air travel options for South Korean passengers.
As Cebu continues to gain prominence as a key destination in the Philippines, Aero K’s new service is expected to contribute to the growing influx of South Korean tourists, further boosting the local economy and tourism sector. The airline’s move underscores the strong ties between South Korea and the Philippines, highlighting the ongoing growth in air connectivity between the two nations.
