Philippine Airlines (PAL) has officially relaunched the PAL Aviation School, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to bolster pilot training and workforce development. This move comes as part of a strategic partnership with globally renowned flight training provider Airways Aviation Group, headquartered in Australia.

The revived training program aims to provide world-class education to future pilots and is part of PAL’s long-term commitment to operational excellence, aviation safety, and the cultivation of top-tier local talent.

Following a rigorous evaluation process, PAL selected Airways Aviation for its exceptional track record in delivering internationally aligned, high-quality flight training. The partnership underscores PAL’s commitment to ensuring its cadets receive comprehensive instruction that meets global aviation standards.

“Airways Aviation met our stringent requirements and demonstrated their robust emphasis on safety culture and competency-based training methodologies. We value the importance of in-house training in shaping pilots with a global outlook, armed with the exceptional skills and innovative spirit required to meet the challenges of the future,” according to PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng.

PAL’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez emphasized the importance of the revitalized aviation school in shaping the future of the industry. “Our revitalized Aviation School will help develop this vital workforce: individuals who are not only outstanding in their craft but also globally minded citizens committed to building a sustainable future for aviation. This meaningful collaboration with Airways Aviation draws from the deep well of expertise and shared commitment to excellence that both our organizations are known for,” Atty. Fernandez said.

Airways Aviation Founder and Chairman Romy Hawatt welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a shared investment in aviation’s future, “We are honored to be selected as the official training provider for the next generation of Philippine Airlines pilots. This partnership is not only a recognition of our global training capabilities, but a testament to the shared values and vision that bind our two organizations. Together, we are investing in the future of aviation.”

The agreement also highlights the strengthening of educational and training ties between the Philippines and Australia, promoting international cooperation in building a skilled and resilient aviation workforce.

According to Janet Dalby, CEO for Australasia and the Pacific at Airways Aviation, the partnership will provide PAL cadets with access to state-of-the-art aviation education technology and training facilities, “Our goal is to create a seamless, globally connected training experience that benefits cadets and the broader industry.”

The first batch of cadets is set to begin their foundational training and undergo assessments in the Philippines. Successful candidates will then advance to Airways Aviation’s campuses in Gold Coast, Australia for further theoretical and practical instruction.
