Boeing Delivers Nusantara Lima Satellite to PSN, Boosting Indonesia’s Connectivity Across 17,000 Islands

Boeing has officially delivered the Satelit Nusantara Lima (SNL) communications satellite to PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), marking a major milestone in advancing high-speed, reliable connectivity across Indonesia’s vast archipelago and neighboring Southeast Asian nations.

Built on Boeing’s proven 702MP satellite platform, SNL boasts a communications payload capable of delivering more than 160 gigabits per second (Gbps) of capacity. This advanced capability will support broadband internet access and essential communication services for communities, schools, and businesses in both urban centers and remote regions.

Equipped with advanced payload processing, SNL can dynamically allocate internet and communication resources where they are needed most — whether in bustling cities, rural villages, or in areas hit by natural disasters. This flexibility ensures consistent service even as demand shifts across Indonesia’s 17,000 islands.

The SNL satellite, fitted with solar wings from Boeing subsidiary Spectrolab that provide up to 15 kilowatts of power, is set for launch next month from Florida’s Space Coast. Following orbit-raising and in-orbit testing, commercial operations from geostationary orbit, approximately 22,000 miles above Earth, are expected to begin in 2026.

PSN, Indonesia’s first private satellite telecommunications company, aims to become Southeast Asia’s largest satellite capacity provider, with a projected 330 Gbps and over 35,000 points of presence nationwide. Boeing and Indonesia’s partnership spans more than 75 years, covering commercial aviation, defense, sustainability, and talent development initiatives.
