Philippine Airlines (PAL) has formalized a strategic partnership with the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PHILSCA) to support the education and training of aspiring aviation professionals. The collaboration, spearheaded through the Philippine Airlines Foundation, Inc. (PALFI), highlights the airline’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of Filipino talent in the aviation industry.
As the nation’s only state-run college specializing in aeronautical and aviation education, PHILSCA plays a pivotal role in producing skilled graduates in the fields of aircraft maintenance, engineering, and aviation management. To reinforce this mission, PAL has pledged to donate a wide array of aviation mechanical tools to students enrolled in PHILSCA’s Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering programs.
The partnership was officially sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held at the Lucio K. Tan, Jr. Center in Pasay City. The event was attended by key officials from both organizations. Representing PAL were Richard Nuttall, President; Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, as well as PALFI Board Member; Alvin Kendrich Limqueco, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer, who also serves as PALFI Data Protection Officer; and Anna Isabel Bengzon, Chief Financial Officer and PALFI Treasurer. On behalf of PHILSCA, attendees included Prof. Marwin Dela Cruz, President, and Engr. Jeq Zyrius Sudweste, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
“PAL’s partnership with PHILSCA is anchored on the shared commitment to invest in quality education in order to empower the next generation of aviation professionals and help them shape the future of the industry,” said PAL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez.
For PHILSCA, the support is a significant step toward enhancing the institution’s technical capabilities. “We are immensely grateful for the support of the country’s flag carrier through the PAL Foundation. This much-needed support will boost PHILSCA’s technical training standards in the fields of aeronautics, electronics, and supply chain management,” said Prof. Dela Cruz.
The donation package from PALFI will include vital training tools such as aircraft wire twister plier sets, control cable tensiometers, flare tools, compressors, and drill guns. In addition, PAL, through its various business units, will donate surplus materials that can serve as supplementary training aids. Beyond equipment, the partnership also extends to faculty development, with PAL offering advanced training opportunities for PHILSCA instructors through the PAL Aviation Training Center and the PAL Human Capital Department.
This initiative reflects PAL’s broader mission to strengthen the country’s aviation ecosystem by investing in future professionals and ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical, industry-aligned training. By supporting PHILSCA, PAL contributes to shaping a more competitive and future-ready aviation workforce for the Philippines.
