Philippine Airlines Airlifts 20 tons of Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Hit Cebu

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has once again demonstrated its commitment to nation-building and compassion in times of crisis by airlifting nearly 20 tons of humanitarian cargo to help residents affected by the recent earthquake in Cebu.

In close coordination with the Lucio Tan Group (LTG), government agencies, and private sector partners, PAL mobilized relief efforts to transport essential goods from Manila (MNL) to Cebu (CEB). The mission forms part of the airline’s ongoing humanitarian initiatives to support Filipinos during emergencies and natural disasters.

According to PAL, the Lucio Tan Group and Asia Brewery Corporation donated 3,000 three-liter water containers weighing a total of 19 tons, ensuring that quake-affected communities have access to safe drinking water amid ongoing recovery operations. In addition, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) contributed quick response (hygiene) kits and psychosocial kits amounting to 654 kilograms (0.654 tons) to address the immediate health and well-being needs of displaced families.

The operation was made possible through the coordination efforts of the PAL Foundation, Inc., the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the airline. Working alongside PAL Cargo teams in Manila and Cebu, the foundation ensured the smooth and timely delivery of relief items to the affected areas.

Philippine Airlines emphasized that it will continue to extend urgent assistance to communities in distress, operating humanitarian flights alongside its regular commercial schedules. The airline noted that such missions are conducted within the capabilities of its available aircraft, ensuring both operational efficiency and the prompt delivery of aid to those who need it most.

As Cebu continues to recover from the devastation brought by the earthquake, PAL reaffirmed its solidarity with the province and its residents.
