Philippine Airlines Launches FurPAL Program, Letting Passengers Fly With Their Pets to Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is giving pet owners a reason to celebrate with the launch of FurPAL, a pioneering in-flight program that allows fur parents to bring their small dogs in-cabin on select flights to top island destinations such as Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao. Starting 12 November 2025, passengers can book FurPAL flights for travel beginning 01 December 2025, with a one-way base fare of PHP2,500.

According to PAL Vice President for Marketing Alvin Miranda, the airline aims to recognize and strengthen the special bond between pets and their owners. “As the first mover in pet air travel in the Philippines, we recognize the unbreakable bond between people and their beloved pets. With FurPAL, we are making it more convenient for them to take a vacation with their pets and create unforgettable memories together,” he said. Miranda also emphasized that PAL is taking a cautious and safety-conscious approach, initially welcoming only small dogs while considering potential future expansion to larger breeds and other pet types, in line with aviation safety regulations.

Booking a FurPAL flight is designed to be quick and hassle-free. Passengers simply select a FurPAL-eligible flight on the Philippine Airlines website, click the FurPAL option on the Travel Boost page, confirm flight details, settle payment, and secure a spot for both themselves and their furry companion. The service is currently available for flights between Manila and Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao, providing a seamless way for pet owners to travel without leaving their pets behind.

Ensuring Safety & Comfort for All Passengers

PAL has implemented strict requirements to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for both passengers and pets. Only small dog breeds weighing up to 10 kilograms, at least eight weeks old, and fully weaned are eligible. Each passenger may bring one dog, and flights can accommodate up to three small dogs.

Approved pet carriers must be soft-sided, leak-proof, and ventilated on two sides, with a maximum size of 17 inches x 11 inches x 9.5 inches. Pets must remain in their carriers under the seat in front of the passenger for the duration of the flight. Required documentation includes a veterinary health certificate, vaccination card, PAL waiver and declaration form, and a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry. Sedation is strictly prohibited.

Passengers can also rest assured that all PAL aircraft are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters, capable of removing up to 99.99% of airborne particles, and cabins are disinfected before every flight using high-grade, eco-friendly cleaning agents.
