26th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta Set for February 2026 at New Clark City

The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) is set to return in grand fashion as it marks its 26th edition from 13 to 15 February 2026, at New Clark City in Tarlac. Organizers announced that the upcoming Fiesta will be one of the largest and most ambitious in its history, reinforcing its reputation as Asia’s premier aviation lifestyle event and a major draw for both local and international tourists.

One of the main highlights of the 2026 edition is the participation of 22 new special-shaped hot air balloons — the highest number ever featured in the event. Pilots from the United Kingdom, United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Macedonia, Switzerland, Germany, and Brazil are confirmed to fly in, bringing a diverse mix of balloon designs and expertise. Each evening of the three-day event will culminate in two signature crowd favorites: the iconic hot air balloon night glow and a large-scale 500-drone light show illuminating the New Clark City skyline with synchronized patterns, animations, and messages.

Beyond hot air balloons, the Fiesta continues to expand its portfolio of world-class air sports. The 2026 edition will feature Federation Aéronautique Internationale (FAI)-sanctioned paragliding and First-Person View (FPV) drone racing competitions, with athletes expected from at least six countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, and the Philippines. Interest in the competitions has grown further following the announcement that the Airsports Federation of Asia will hold its first board meeting for 2026 in New Clark City during the event.

A fast-emerging highlight is the Soccer Drone competition, a new sport that has been gaining international attention. The Fiesta will feature a demo court where visitors can try the sport themselves, with long-term plans to potentially host a future world championship. Local academic institutions are also getting involved, with FEATI University and PATTS College of Aeronautics forming teams to compete. The winning team is expected to represent the Philippines in international competitions.

The event will also remain inclusive and family-friendly, with activities such as a Paper Plane competition open to all ages, RC airplane demonstrations, aerial dogfights, kite shows, and ultralight aircraft formation flights. On the ground, visitors can enjoy car drifting exhibitions, explore the Fly Market, and sample Pampanga’s renowned culinary offerings alongside other popular food choices.

Adding a glimpse of future aviation technology, Filipino inventor Kyxz Mendiola is set to demonstrate his homebuilt manned flying drone, which he personally flies, offering spectators a rare look at emerging concepts in personal air mobility.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has come on board as a strong supporter of the event, aligning the Fiesta with national efforts to develop aero sports and promote non-traditional tourism. Paragliding and paramotor athletes being supported for the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand are also expected to showcase their skills during the Fiesta.

Local and national stakeholders have expressed strong support for the event, citing its economic and tourism impact. Officials from the Provincial Government of Tarlac and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority highlighted the Fiesta’s role in driving visitor traffic, stimulating growth across hospitality and transport sectors, and showcasing New Clark City’s readiness as a premier tourism and investment destination.

In addition to entertainment and competition, the Fiesta will continue its long-standing advocacy of aviation education and career awareness. Industry professionals — including pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, safety inspectors, and military aviators — will share insights and experiences, aiming to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in aviation.

Over its more than 25-year history, the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta has earned its tagline, “A Weekend of Everything that Flies,” through its mix of aerial spectacles, cultural exchanges, concerts, educational programs, and iconic performances. The 26th edition promises to build on that legacy, delivering a vibrant celebration of flight, innovation, and community.
