Philippine Airlines (PAL) has reached a major milestone in its long-term growth and fleet modernization program with the arrival of its first Airbus A350-1000 in Manila (MNL) at around 1630H today. The delivery marks a historic first not only for the flag carrier but also for the region, as PAL becomes the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the next-generation widebody aircraft.
The arrival of the A350-1000 highlights PAL’s commitment to strengthening its global network while offering passengers a more modern, efficient, and comfortable long-haul travel experience. The aircraft is expected to play a key role in PAL’s transpacific and other ultra-long-haul routes, supporting the airline’s ambitions to expand its international footprint.

The aircraft, registered RP-C3510 and sporting the “85 years” decal in celebration of the airline’s 85th anniversary in 2026, was formally handed over during a delivery ceremony at the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France. Leading the Philippine Airlines delegation was PAL Holdings, Inc. President Lucio Tan III, joined by PAL Board Adviser Kyle Tan, PAL President Richard Nuttall, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez. This aircraft is the first of nine Airbus A350-1000s that PAL has on order as part of its ongoing fleet expansion and renewal strategy.
During the ceremony, Tan expressed the company’s appreciation to Airbus, a long-standing partner of more than four decades, and highlighted the importance of welcoming what is widely regarded as one of the most advanced widebody aircraft in commercial aviation today.

“The arrival of the A350-1000 marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to fleet modernization and network growth. It will be a source of Filipino pride and a transformational step for our airline,” according to Mr. Tan, President of PAL Holdings Inc., emphasizing the aircraft’s role in elevating PAL’s global competitiveness.
Configured with a spacious tri-class cabin, the Airbus A350-1000 can accommodate up to 382 passengers. This includes 42 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 316 in Economy, offering enhanced comfort across all cabins. Passengers can expect improved cabin air quality, quieter engines, wider seats, and a more comfortable long-haul flying experience — key features that define the A350 family.
From an operational standpoint, the A350-1000 brings significant efficiency gains. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 turbofan engines, each capable of producing up to 97,000 pounds of thrust. These engines are designed for long-range performance, reliability, and reduced maintenance costs, making them ideal for PAL’s long-haul operations.

The aircraft also sets new benchmarks in sustainable aviation. Compared to previous-generation widebody aircraft, the A350-1000 delivers up to a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It is also capable of operating with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), aligning with PAL’s environmental goals and the aviation industry’s broader push toward lower-carbon operations.
With the addition of the A350-1000, Philippine Airlines’ total fleet now stands at 82 aircraft. As more units are delivered in the coming years, the airline is expected to further modernize its long-haul services, enhance passenger experience, and reinforce its position as a leading global carrier representing the Philippines on the world stage.
To mark the aircraft’s arrival in Manila, PAL also hosted a special get-together for some of Manila’s top planespotters at ELDAN Cafe + Bar in Pasay City. The intimate gathering celebrated the historic delivery of the A350-1000 and highlighted PAL’s engagement with the local aviation community, acknowledging the role of aviation enthusiasts in documenting and sharing key milestones in Philippine aviation.
Maraming salamat, Philippine Airlines (PAL), for organizing this and for including AvGeekPH!
