AirAsia Philippines (Z2) has achieved an extraordinary operational milestone by taking the top spot as the world’s most punctual low-cost carrier for the month of July 2026. Data published by global air travel intelligence provider OAG shows that the Filipino budget carrier delivered an exceptional performance across its network, demonstrating that affordability and operational reliability can coexist seamlessly in modern commercial aviation.
According to the latest monthly On-Time Performance report from OAG, AirAsia Philippines recorded a stellar 94.42% OTP for July 2026. This impressive metric secured the first-place ranking among 46 low-cost airlines evaluated across the globe. Beyond its leadership in the low-cost sector, the airline also made a remarkable impact in the broader aviation landscape. In OAG’s All Airlines category, which tracks air carriers operating more than 1,500 flights within a single month, AirAsia Philippines secured the second spot globally. This achievement places the local carrier right behind global leaders, demonstrating that its operational consistency matches and even outperforms many established full-service legacy airlines worldwide.

This stellar result builds directly upon the carrier’s previous strong performance recorded in June 2026, when it turned in a 92.96% OTP to secure the fourth position globally. The continuous month-over-month trajectory highlights a sustained operational turnaround and rigorous discipline across all ground and flight operations.
“While the global geopolitical crisis and elevated fuel prices have pushed us to make difficult decisions and operational adjustments, our move to optimize our fleet is now yielding tangible benefits. It enabled us to plan our flights, fuel consumption and manage our slot compliance in close coordination with Air Traffic Control. These measures help us minimize disruptions while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across its network,” according to AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Anna Victoria Lu.
Through careful fleet management, the airline has been able to enhance flight scheduling, refine fuel consumption strategies, and maintain strict slot compliance in direct coordination with Air Traffic Control agencies. These combined efforts have allowed the carrier to minimize flight disruptions while upholding safety, efficiency, and reliability across its entire route network.
In addition to fleet adjustments, AirAsia Philippines has actively strengthened its broader operational capabilities. The carrier has focused on issuing proactive passenger advisories, ensuring travelers are well-informed of potential delays or schedule changes. Close collaboration with local airport authorities and Air Traffic Services has also played a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations and mitigating potential bottlenecks on the ramp and in congested airspace.
The July performance is particularly notable given the challenging weather conditions that typically affect flight operations across the Philippine archipelago during the rainy season. Despite these external disruptions, the airline improved its OTP from 87.1% in May 2026 to 94.42% in July 2026. This upward trend reflects high operational discipline, particularly in managing aircraft ground turnaround times efficiently.
Lu emphasized that maintaining high punctuality requires relentless focus, especially in a dynamic operating environment where weather conditions and external constraints can shift rapidly. She noted that passenger trust is paramount, and travelers depend on the airline for reliable and cost-effective air travel. She reaffirmed that even within a low-cost business framework, affordable airfares do not require compromising on operational integrity. Moving forward, the carrier plans to maintain this operational momentum to ensure dependable air travel for passengers across the region well into the future.
