Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo Takes the Tiller at CAAP

Veteran pilot Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo took his oath of office as Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) last 14 November 2022 according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr). No less than DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista administered Capt. Tamayo’s oath of office.

Capt. Tamayo is a licensed pilot with more than 42 years of experience in the aviation industry. He started his aviation career at the Philippine Air Force (PAF), where he graduated from the Philippine Air Force Flying School Batch of 1975.

Prior to this new role as the Director General of CAAP, Capt. Tamayo was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte as Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports under the Department of Transportation (DOTr). As undersecretary for aviation, Capt. Tamayo participated and worked towards the launch and completion of 217 airport development projects.
