Airbus Strengthens Commitment to Philippine Defense with Cutting-Edge Solutions

Airbus reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to bolstering the Philippines’ defense capabilities at the bi-annual Asian Defense and Security Exhibition (ADAS) 2024. With a strong presence in the Philippines for over 40 years, Airbus is poised to provide state-of-the-art solutions to meet the country’s evolving defense and security requirements.

Strategic Partnerships and Cutting-Edge Solutions

During a press briefing in Pasay City Tuesday morning, Airbus highlighted its successful partnership with the Philippine Air Force (PAF), marked by the timely delivery of seven C295 medium transport aircraft between 2014 and 2021. These versatile aircraft have proven indispensable in supporting both military and humanitarian missions across the archipelago. Airbus is also ready to provide advanced solutions such as the C295 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, which boasts cutting-edge surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike capabilities crucial for safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.

Recognizing the growing complexity of the geopolitical landscape in the Asia-Pacific region, Airbus showcases its comprehensive suite of C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) solutions, designed to enhance air defense capabilities and align seamlessly with the Philippine Air Force’s modernization plans. These solutions encompass advanced systems like the Fortion suite, which consolidates air surveillance data for improved situational awareness, and the Fortion 1SkyControl, an agnostic command and control system that streamlines air defense operations.

Versatile Aerial Refueling and Transport Solutions

Airbus presented the A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) as an ideal solution for the Philippine Air Force’s expanding operational needs. This versatile aircraft excels in aerial refueling, troop transport, and strategic airlift, acting as a force multiplier by enabling fewer aircraft to accomplish more. The A330 MRTT’s dual refueling systems offer unmatched flexibility for various missions, and its exceptional range and endurance make it perfect for critical tasks like repatriating Filipino nationals or VIP transportation roles on nonstop flights to far-away destinations. Airbus also showcased the A400M, renowned for its versatility in heavy cargo transport, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief operations. The A400M’s ability to deliver oversized cargo directly to the point of need is invaluable, particularly in challenging environments like those encountered in the Philippines’ archipelagic operations.

Strengthening Maritime and Aerial Capabilities

Airbus emphasized its commitment to enhancing the Philippine Air Force’s search and rescue capabilities by offering the H225M helicopter, a highly versatile platform renowned for its heavy-lift capabilities and adaptability. This helicopter is ideally suited for transporting personnel and equipment in demanding conditions, further complementing the Philippine Air Force’s future acquisition of multi-role fighter aircraft. Airbus also expressed its readiness to support the expansion of the Philippine Coast Guard’s fleet with the H145 helicopters, specifically tailored for search and rescue operations.

Unmanned Aerial Systems and the Future of Defense

At ADAS 2024, Airbus introduced the FlexRotor UAS, an unmanned aerial system making its debut in the Asia-Pacific region. This advanced system provides a cutting-edge solution for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance missions. With its combat-proven capabilities and unique adaptability, the FlexRotor UAS offers unmatched operational flexibility and represents the next generation of unmanned aerial systems.

Airbus remains dedicated to its long-standing partnership with the Philippines and is committed to providing advanced aircraft, defense systems, and innovative technologies to support the country’s defense modernization efforts. With a robust local presence and a comprehensive understanding of the Philippines’ unique requirements, Airbus is confident in its ability to play a pivotal role in bolstering the nation’s defense capabilities.

ADAS 2024 will happen at the World Trade Center Metro Manila starting today until Friday, 27 September 2024.
