Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced a strategic partnership with The New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. This collaboration positions PAL as the first Southeast Asian airline to operate out of the highly anticipated, state-of-the-art terminal, marking a significant upgrade for its passengers traveling between Manila and New York. PAL’s shift to the New Terminal One will further strengthen its presence on the U.S. East Coast.
Currently offering thrice-weekly nonstop flights between Manila and JFK, Philippine Airlines is the only carrier directly linking the Philippines to the U.S. East Coast. The airline uses the long-range Airbus A350-900 to serve this popular route, catering to both leisure and business travelers. The partnership will see PAL transitioning from the current Terminal 1 to the New Terminal One when it opens in 2026, providing a fresh, upgraded travel experience for its passengers.
“This partnership with the JFK New Terminal One highlights an important innovation for Philippine Airlines. This alliance allows us to enhance our service and elevate the travel experience for our passengers traveling between Manila and New York, as well as nearby cities in New Jersey and Connecticut, and throughout the U.S. East Coast and Midwest. We stay committed to creating a seamless and memorable journey, reflecting our dedication to excellence in every flight,” according to PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng.
The New Terminal One at JFK is set to be the largest terminal at the airport, boasting 2.6 million square feet of space. Once completed, it will encompass the footprint of the current Terminal 1 and the former Terminals 2 and 3. According to Jennifer Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One, the partnership with PAL underscores a shared commitment to improving customer experience. “We are delighted to welcome Philippine Airlines to our growing family of airlines at the New Terminal One. Our teams share a strong commitment to customer experience, and we look forward to working together to elevate the curb-to-gate experience for Philippine Airlines customers flying to and from New York,” Aument said.
The terminal is expected to open in phases starting in 2026.
