AirAsia Philippines Advises Travelers on Safe and Hassle-Free Trips During Election Period

As the 2025 Philippine midterm elections approach, AirAsia Philippines is reminding passengers to observe election-related travel regulations to ensure a smooth and secure journey. With the official campaign period beginning on 11 February 2025, the airline encourages travelers to plan their trips carefully, especially as an influx of passengers is expected at airports nationwide.

Prepare for Heavy Passenger Traffic

To avoid delays, AirAsia Philippines advises travelers to arrive early — at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures. The anticipated increase in passenger volume, coupled with security measures along key routes, may lead to longer processing times at airports.

In line with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) directive, AirAsia is also reminding passengers of the nationwide election gun ban. Those requiring exemptions should check the necessary requirements on the COMELEC website before traveling.

AirAsia Fast Pass: Enhancing the Airport Experience

To improve passenger convenience during this peak season, AirAsia Philippines introduced Fast Pass, a premium service designed to make airport procedures more efficient. Benefits include:

  • Dedicated Check-In Counters – Expedited check-in and baggage drop-off.
  • 14kg Carry-On Baggage Allowance – Passengers can bring up to 14kg of cabin baggage.
  • Fast Lane Immigration Clearance – Priority access through fast-track lanes at selected airports in Malaysia, Thailand, and India.
  • Priority Boarding – Enjoy early boarding with Zone 1 access.

Fast Pass is available for PHP480 for domestic flights and PHP900 for international flights and can be purchased during booking or as an add-on up to 24 hours before departure.

Book Early for the Election and Summer Rush

With the midterm elections falling within the summer travel peak, AirAsia is urging passengers to book their flights early to secure preferred travel dates and competitive fares.

“We are expecting a significant surge in passenger traffic in the months leading to May, as it coincides with both the summer travel rush and the return of voters to their provinces for the midterm elections. To avoid any travel disruptions, we urge our guests to plan ahead and book early — especially for high-demand routes like Caticlan, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa and Tagbilaran,” according to AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head First Officer Steve Dailisan.

In addition, international travelers are reminded to complete the electronic travel (e-travel) form through the e-Gov app to ensure smoother airport processing.
