Scheduled to take off on 28 March 2027, this highly anticipated route marks a massive milestone as Delta becomes the only United States-based carrier to provide a direct, nonstop connection between Southern California and the Philippine capital. The new service expands the airline’s rapidly growing footprint across the Asia-Pacific region and injects fresh competition into a high-demand travel corridor.
The premium passenger journey begins long before takeoff at Delta’s premier West Coast hub. Travelers flying out of Los Angeles can take advantage of extensive infrastructure developments, including the newly inaugurated second Delta One Lounge located in Terminal 2. This makes Los Angeles International Airport the very first hub in Delta’s global network to boast two exclusive Delta One Lounges. The airline is aggressively pushing its lounge footprint forward, aiming to offer four distinct dedicated lounge spaces at the airport by 2028, spanning over 60,000 square feet and accommodating more than 1,000 guests alongside ongoing upgrades across both Terminals 2 and 3.
Once in the air, passengers will experience the journey on board Delta’s flagship widebody aircraft, the Airbus A350-900. The aircraft is configured to offer four distinct cabin products tailored to different traveler preferences, including the top-tier Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main Cabin. Across all sections of the plane, flyers will have access to high-quality seatback entertainment, curated amenities, and fast, free Wi-Fi connectivity for SkyMiles members. For those flying in the elite Delta One cabin, the transpacific crossing features fully flat-bed seating, customized culinary menus, and personalized service aimed at elevating the long-haul flight.
According to network planning leadership at Delta, the introduction of the Manila route builds directly onto the premium ecosystem that travelers have come to expect from the airline. The expansion solidifies the carrier’s foothold as the leading global operator at Los Angeles International Airport. Airport operations officials at Los Angeles World Airports have expressed equal enthusiasm, highlighting that the direct service provides a critical link to culture, heritage, and family for the immense Filipino-American community residing across Southern California.
Operationally, the service will launch with a three-times-weekly frequency on 28 March 2027, before ramping up to a full daily schedule just in time for the peak summer travel rush on 07 June 2027. Beyond the direct flight benefits, this new connection heavily reinforces Delta’s strategic joint venture partnership with Korean Air (KE). While passengers can continue to utilize Korean Air’s robust schedule connecting through Seoul Incheon, the new direct route gives travelers the ultimate flexibility to choose between seamless multi-city layovers or a pure, uninterrupted flight straight to the Philippines.
