Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (5J) has officially marked a quarter-century of commercial flight operations to Hong Kong (HKG) by honoring five outstanding Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW). These individuals were recognized for their meaningful contributions and positive impact on the Filipino community abroad. The special ceremony highlights the airline’s long-standing connection to one of its most vital international destinations and the global Filipino workforce that relies on its network.
The airline presented the prestigious CEB Values Awards during the Philippine Tourism Festival, an event organized by the OFW group Philippine Alliance. The accolades were designed to honor individuals who embody Cebu Pacific’s core corporate values, which include Trust, Integrity, Courage, Service, and the Best of Filipino Spirit. By alignment with these pillars, the carrier sought to shine a light on the unsung heroes who uplift their fellow citizens while working far from home.
Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, emphasized that Hong Kong has been an integral part of the airline’s international network and history for the past 25 years. She noted that the city has served as a second home to generations of overseas workers whose hard work and dedication continue to inspire the company. Iyog added that the CEB Values Awards serve as a platform to recognize individuals who live out the very principles the airline aspires to uphold.
This milestone event marks the second time the Philippine carrier has hosted the values awards in Hong Kong. To celebrate their achievements, each award recipient was given a roundtrip international ticket complete with a twenty-kilogram baggage allowance. In the spirit of the festival, Cebu Pacific also raffled off three additional roundtrip international tickets to OFW attendees, providing more modern-day heroes the chance to reunite with their families or explore new destinations.
Hong Kong entered the Cebu Pacific route network back in 2001 and has since maintained its status as a cornerstone international destination. The route serves a diverse mix of passengers, anchoring vital travel links for OFWs while simultaneously catering to a steadily growing number of Filipino leisure and business travelers.
Currently, Cebu Pacific operates an extensive flight network that spans thirty-five domestic and twenty-six international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. The airline continues its mission to make air travel accessible and affordable, maintaining its commitment to bridging distances and connecting Filipinos wherever they may be in the world.
