The global aviation landscape is witnessing a monumental shift as Riyadh Air (RX), the newest premium carrier of Saudi Arabia, officially took delivery of its first two custom-built Boeing B787 Dreamliner passenger aircraft. The widebody jets have successfully touched down at their new home base in Riyadh, marking a critical operational milestone for the startup airline as it aggressively accelerates its timeline toward launching highly anticipated commercial services.

Tony Douglas, the Chief Executive Officer of Riyadh Air, expressed immense pride during the arrival ceremony, stating that seeing the custom-designed Dreamliners land in the capital represents a truly historic moment for the company and a momentous day for Saudi aviation as a whole. He shared his absolute confidence in the future and the long-lasting legacy the airline aims to create. Douglas emphasized that the team is not simply building a new commercial airline from the ground up, but is actively opening a massive new gateway to the world right from the heart of the Kingdom. The carrier is fully prepared and eager to welcome global travelers to Riyadh.

This double aircraft delivery represents a giant leap forward for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s broader national aviation strategy. These twin-aisle aircraft are slated to play a central role in bridging the Kingdom with key regional and lucrative long-haul international markets spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America.

Stephanie Pope, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, celebrated the delivery by highlighting that Riyadh Air is bringing to life a bold vision of modern, world-class travel. She noted that Boeing is delighted to support the carrier as it unlocks new possibilities for both the Kingdom and global connectivity. Pope further explained that the 787 Dreamliner offers Riyadh Air unmatched fuel efficiency, exceptional route flexibility, and a visually stunning passenger cabin interior designed to deliver a phenomenal, next-generation travel experience.

Looking ahead, Riyadh Air plans to serve more than 100 destinations across the globe by 2030. The airline intends to deploy its early 787 Dreamliner flights to high-demand trunk routes and key cities, including London, Cairo, and Jeddah, laying down its operational footprint before expanding worldwide.
